Arizona neighborhood terrorized by packs of stray Chihuahuas
A Phoenix, Arizona neighborhood has reportedly been overrun by packs of stray Chihuahuas, according to a report by ABC News.
Local officials say the tiny pooches have been wreaking havoc on the streets of Maryvale, terrorizing children and defecating wherever they please.
The stray animals have been flooding the area, reportedly travelling in packs as large as 15.
“We compared the number of calls we got in 2013 from that area to similar areas in town and the calls from Maryvale were three times higher than surrounding areas,” said Melissa Gable with Maricopa County Animal Care and Control, according to the report.
Authorities say they’ve been having a tough time rounding up the wild short-legged dogs who have been procreating like crazy.
“Part of it is these animals aren’t spayed or neutered, so they’re out looking for a mate and are having babies, which also contributes to the problem,” said Gable.
Animal authorities have offered to spay and neuters the dogs at no charge and hope to contain the growing problem as soon as possible.
