123rd Mobile Public Affairs Detachment
Command Sergeant Major John F. Sampa, Command Sergeant Major of the Army National Guard, visited with the 33 competitors of the 2019 Arizona National Guard Best Warrior Competitors on April 17th, 2019 in Camp Navajo, Arizona.
CSM Sampa took time to meet with the competitors and explained how this annual competition impacts individual Guardsmen as well as their units.

– Begin! We try to find the best warrior in the Arizona Army National Guard. The majority of soldiers that’s out here today competing have a civilian life, so for them to come out here from their civilian workplace, and to perform the skills at a high level as a soldier says a lot about the professionalism and the quality of soldier we have in the Army National Guard. These competitions just testing the soldiers’ basic skills. Marksmanship. – Hit, hit! Hit. Hit. – Land nav. And then also add some other events in there to put a little stress on the soldier that builds confidence in a person. Building that confidence makes great leaders. And overall, we’re gonna find out who the best warrior is.
