The Real Frontierland | PIONEER LIVING HISTORY MUSEUM | Phoenix, Arizona

In this episode, we take a tour of the Pioneer Living History Museum in Phoenix, Arizona and check out some of the original and reconstructed buildings from 1880s and early 1900s.

Many people have experienced Frontierland at Disneyland, Disney World, and other Disney parks, but if you want the real deal, you’re gonna want to come and experience pioneer living from the real frontier!

The museum features a collection of original, as well as reconstructed dwellings from 19th century Arizona.

You will see a bank, opera house, sheriff’s office, and several original cabins including the notorious “Flying V”, which is a piece of history related to the Tewksbury Graham feud (Pleasant Valley war), one of Arizona’s bloodiest conflicts.

There are also many more buildings to see, some of which are featured on our video. We didn’t want to spoil everything in the video, so we only show maybe half of what is there.

The Pioneer Arizona Living History Museum is very accessible, with most of the sights being positioned along a flat, paved trail. It is also very family friendly, and would be an excellent place for school field trips to learn about the history of Arizona.

There is quite a bit of walking to do and not too much shade, so be prepared and drink plenty of water. You might want to avoid the hot Arizona summers, but if you do brave the heat, the reward is that you will have the museum virtually all to yourself!

In the cooler season, the museum has plenty of activities such as panning for gold, and old west shootouts. However, in the hot months, activities and park hours are limited, so be sure to check the museum’s website before you go!
