When the NCAA transfer portal officially opens on Monday, it will have at least three members of Arizona’s 2023 roster as part of its initial payload.
Safety Isaiah Taylor and linebacker Ammon Allen both announced Friday their intentions to enter the portal, joining running back Stevie Rocker Jr.’s announcement on Monday. Both players are redshirt sophomores with two seasons of eligibility remaining.
aylor was one of two high school recruits Arizona signed in the 2021 class after Jedd Fisch was hired, along with receiver Anthony Simpson. A 3-star prospect from Florida, and the son of NFL Hall of Famer (and University of Miami assistant) Jason Taylor, Isaiah appeared in 26 games with two starts during his UA career.
This season Taylor played mostly on special teams, finishing the year with 15 tackles. Eight of those were in the Week 2 loss at Mississippi State when he started the first half in place of a suspended Gunner Maldonado.
Allen, who played at Gilbert Highland before walking on at the UA in 2021, played 27 games for the Wildcats with all his snaps this season on special teams.
