College Sports Communicators announced its annual Academic All-American honorees for softball on Tuesday. Among the 33 players selected by the organization were Arizona sophomore outfielder Dakota Kennedy and senior second baseman Allie Skaggs.

The organization, formerly known as CoSIDA, named four Wildcat players to its All-District team. In addition to Kennedy and Skaggs, senior first baseman Carlie Scupin and sophomore shortstop Tayler Biehl were All-District. Kennedy, Skaggs, and Scupin were all eligible to be named to the All-American teams.

To be named an Academic All-American, an athlete has to be a high performer on the field and meet certain guidelines in the classroom. Among the criteria, athletes must be at least sophomores both academically and athletically, have a GPA of at least 3.50 (without being rounded up to meet that threshold), and be nominated by a member of CSC.

As a sophomore, it was the first season that Kennedy was eligible for recognition. The third-team NFCA All-American and Rawlings Gold Glove honoree earned first-team CSC Academic All-American recognition.

Kennedy carries a 4.0 GPA. She is a criminal justice studies major.

Skaggs was one of five honorees making a repeat appearance as an Academic All-American. She was a first-team selection in 2023. This year, she was named to the third team.

Skaggs graduated with a 3.91 GPA in journalism.
