Taylor Wily, who gained fame on the sumo circuit in the late 1980s before transitioning into acting, has passed away at the age of 56. He died on June 20 in Hawaii, as confirmed by Peter M. Lenkov, executive producer of the Hawaii Five-0 reboot, where Wily played the beloved character Kamekona Tupuola. The show, which ran for a decade starting in 2010, featured Wily as a shrimp truck owner and informant to the Five-0 Task Force. Lenkov expressed his shock and sadness at the news of his friend’s passing on Instagram, sharing a heartfelt message in remembrance of Wily.

Wily is survived by his wife Halona and their two children.
