New conference, same late starts.

Arizona’s first league game in the Big 12 will start around the same time most of its conference tilts did in the Pac-12, with the Wildcats’ matchup at Utah on Sept. 28 getting a 7:15 p.m. PT kickoff with ESPN airing the contest.

It will be an old Pac-12 battle for the UA’s Big 12 debut, though it won’t be the Utes’ conference opener. No. 12 Utah (3-0) visits No. 14 Oklahoma State on Saturday while the UA is on a bye.

Arizona (2-1) beat the Utes in Tucson last season, but before that Utah had won six consecutive meetings including the last three in Salt Lake City. The last time the Wildcats won on the road against Utah was 2014 en route to their Pac-12 South Division title.

The UA has won six consecutive conference games, one shy of the school record set in 1935-36 and matched in 1941-42.

With the Big 12 spreading across all four time zones, it’s very likely to most of Arizona’s games (home and away) against the other western teams in the league will be late kickoffs. That includes the Big 12 home opener Oct. 4 against Texas Tech and the Oct. 11 trip to BYU.
