The bulk of Arizona’s 2027 recruiting class to this point has hailed from Texas, but California remains a big focus. And one particular school in Orange County has managed to establish a pipeline to Tucson.

Evan Mack, a 3-star cornerback from Southern California, announced his decision to play college football in Tucson on Thursday. He is the third player from Crean Lutheran High School in Irvine, Calif. to commit to the Wildcats in the 2027 recruiting class.

Mack, who is 6-foot-3 and 175 pounds, played his junior season at Crean. Before that, he played at Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach for his freshman and varsity sophomore seasons. During his lone varsity season with WW, Mack racked up 48 tackles, 2 for a loss, 3 picks and 17 PBUs in 14 games. Last year, his first at Crean Lutheran, he notched 49 tackles, 2 interceptions and 10 PBUs in 11 games.

Mack has 22 reported offers on the recruiting trail. He chose Arizona over Arizona State, Arkansas, BYU, California, Kansas, Miami (FL), Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas A&M, UCLA, USC, Utah and Washington to name a few.

He is ranked as a high 3-star in both of 247Sports’ ranking systems. In the Composite, Mack comes in as the No. 513 player nationally, the No. 64 corner and the 47th-best player in California. Internally, the site has him as the No. 50 cornerback and the No. 35 player in California.

Mack joins Crean teammates Braylen Ross and Ty Johnson, both wide receivers, in Arizona’s 2027 class, which is now at 15 commitments. Another Crean standout, 3-star quarterback Caden Jones, is set to pick between the UA, Baylor and Washington on Friday.
